Gengar vs King Boo (Mario vs Pokemon)

"Ghosts are all around us. Look for them, and you will find them." -Ruskin Bond

Gengar,The Shadow Pokémon

King Boo,The Master of Illusions

Fear is something that has been with Humans for a long time,it's a Natural emotion and nothing else provokes such emotions more than the supernatural, everyone has heard Ghost stories at least a day in their life and these two bring those buried childhood fears directly into reality,Will Gengar steal the AFTERlife form his Opponent? Or will Boo find himself a new painting for his mansion? Time to Find out!

Before We Start…
Gengar and King Boo are being examined from most of their Media. The main focus will of course be on the mainline Pokémon and Mario games of course, but the Pokémon spinoff games, the Pokémon anime & manga,Mario Party, RPGS, and even Paper Mario (more on that later) will be used, among other Secondary material,we will also composite EVERY Gengar due to it being a species and not just one guy.

We will however not give King Boo stuff like Mario-Kun for more than obvious reasons, they are borderline Completly different characters, there are certain Blogs and Vsbattle pages that were used for a few calcs and minor information, such as the Chaos vs. Kyogre Blog,Bowser vs Eggman Blog,King K. Rool vs King Pig Blog and Shadow vs Mewtwo Blog. But besides that it's a fairly clear cut Matchup when it comes to rules and what counts and what dosen't.

Background
Gengar
Gengar is a Ghost and Poison Type Pokemon with a Height of 1.5 m and a Weights 40.5 kg,Gengars are typically mean-spirited and enjoy tormenting people by hurting them and overtaking them. Its body is made of poison gas, 95% of it at least. The other 5% is supposedly the souls of those who died of said gas. They are most active during full moons, creeping out in the dead of night and disguising themselves as shadows; they may even enters sleeping homes to lurk in the dark. They will mimic every movement their targets make until they lower their guards. Then, they strike, draining their victims' life force as sustenance.

Gengar are also said to attack those who are hopelessly lost and afraid in the mountains. Many Gengar have learned to feed on fear, simply following victims in the shadows and mimicking them almost, but not quite perfectly. This cultivates great paranoia in victims, which they can then feast on. Other tricks Gengar have been known to use include: laughing maniacally in the shadows, lighting their red eyes in the darkness, and chanting mysteriously in the distance. In some places, parents warn that Gengar appear at night in the bedrooms of naughty children. A famous folk tale tells of a Gengar that once used to be human, attacking people so it could have a friend.

In spite of their infamous insidiousness and cruelty, domesticated Gengar that are being kindly looked after by their trainers are much friendlier, and their smiles appear to be less creepy. Though don't think they are saints now,Gengars being Mischievous are in their Nature and they will always take the chance to spook you anytime, anywhere.

King Boo
While his Origins are full of mystery, and his Appearance too,he keeps changing,King Boo is the king of...Well,Boo's,a race of Ghosts that Haunt the Mushroom Kingdom usually residing in haunted Mansions,Hoping to capture Luigi,King Boo sends him a letter. The message states that Luigi has won a mansion in a contest and provides the location of the prize. Luigi asks his brother Mario to investigate the mansion and says that he is arriving shortly thereafter. Mario travels to the mansion on his brother's behalf, but, right after he enters,he is instantly overwhelmed by King Boo's forces and captured. King Boo then imprisons him in a portrait.

While waiting for Luigi, King Boo and his Boo minions wait behind a secret door in the floor of the Storage Room. When Luigi enters the room and reveals the secret door, the Boos spring out from the floor. However, the Boos stop their surprise attack when they notice the Poltergust 3000 on Luigi's back, given by E. Gadd so he could recapture the Portrait Ghosts and save his brother. The Poltergust 3000 is one of the few things King Boo fears, and he and the other Boos scatter and hide in the mansion. After entering the Altar, Luigi notices King Boo staring at Mario in the painting while insulting the brothers' intelligence for having fallen for his scheme. King Boo then turns around to face Luigi and states his desire to add a Luigi painting to the collection. Unfortunately King Boo's plans don't go that well as he is captured in the Poltergust 3000.

Luigi quickly travels to Professor E. Gadd's lab. In the lab,Luigi connects the Poltergust to the professor's Portrificationizer, dumping its contents into the machine. Both King Boo and the fake Bowser appear on the Portificationizer portrait. With King Boo captured and Mario Saved, Professor E. Gadd hangs his new portrait in an empty room in his gallery.

King Boo
Crown
Is a King really a King without his Signature Crown? Though it does keep changing a lot, sometimes it's a medieval-like gold crown and sometimes it's a imperial crown, that's most likely due to the Puple (sometimes Red) Gem in it,which has been stated to be the source for King Boo's Power.

Bowser Costume
You know,it's definitly very Questionable to have a Life-Size fursuit of your Boss, especially when you use it to pose it like you are close friends with the guy but oh well, that's besides the point,it's almost a perfect Replica of Bowser's not only Appearance but also powers,as you can imagine,it allows him to breath Fire as well as shoot Iceballs,he can even control the Suit without being on it.

Spiked Ball
One of King Boo's main weapons in all 3 Mansion Games,King Boo throws out these spike balls which carry bombs inside them.

Baseball Bat
BONK!

Kart
The Kart King Boo uses to have a little fun with his Mortal Enemies, you know as you do,atough it changes a lot Design wise (guess it really DOES belong to King Boo) that is because Karts are extremely customizable with different wheels and all but most of them have the same Function, you know,Karting and almost killing each other while doing so,atough some have a Second seat for Guests. And some of them can Glide

Item Box
boxes featured in the Mario Kart series. Item Boxes look like Question Mark Blocks but are transparent and often multicolored, when King Boo passes trough them he gains a Random Item form a Large item Pool,it also includes a Double Varient which gives two items, those Include:

Mushroom Powder
Upon being used, the Mushroom Powder will drop behind the user's kart, producing a purple cloud on the racetrack. Green Shell
The Green Shell is mainly used for as a basic offensive Item. racer can throw them in front of them at an opponent, and it will speed through the track in a straight line until It collides with other driver,It collides with an item trailed by racers,It is consumed by on-track obstacles,It ricochets off the walls five times or It falls off the course. Triple Golden Shell
It basically works the same way as the Normal Golden Shells except there's 3 of them.

Tox Banana Shot
After a few moments of driving behind an enemy vehicle,it will automatically lock on a enemy and send the homing Banana on its way. Once it hits the opponent, they get spun out like they've just slipped on a regular Banana, but the toxins also make their steering wheel go haywire for several moments.

They will steal it, and then fly back to bring it to you.

Thwomp
When the player uses it, if another player or CPU gets under it, it smashes that player. It's also perfect for squashing jackals.

Porcupuffer
Once the driver has been horizontally following an enemy racer for a few seconds, the target will turn red, meaning it's all good to fire. Once an opponent is hit, their two right tires explode, making them lose control and speed.

Double Porcupuffer
It basically works the same way as the Normal Porcupuffer except there's 2 of them

Triple Porcupuffer
It basically works the same way as the Normal Porcupuffers except there's 3 of them

Scuttlebug
the player can use them to hit other racers with spiderwebs.

Saggy Gummy
It is a lock on shot item; when a racer locks on an opponent racer ahead, the item homes onto the racer. The item causes initial slow-down, and the main temporary effect is that it stretches the vehicle horizontally and vertically.

Giant Gummy
Unlike its smaller version, the Giant Gummy can only be dropped behind the player's kart. Moreover, it has a completely different effect as the Giant Gummy snaps the player's/opponent's kart when hit, thus pushing it far and slowing it.

Thunder Stick

Rain Cloud
If a player is in a range of about 50 feet, a blue target will appear over opponents. Then you unleash the power of rain on the racer. Droplets falling above the victim's kart will decrease their control of the vehicle.

Snow Cloud
The Snow Cloud locks onto another racer and freezes their kart's tires while snowing upon them. This makes the racer lose traction on the track and slowing them down.

Tornado
The Tornado can be shot straightforward, throwing up any karts in the way into the air.

Double Tornado
It basically works the same way as the Normal Tornado except there's 2 of them.

Triple Tornado
It basically works the same way as the Normal Tornado except there's 3 of them.

Bullet Bill
After being used, they are transformed into an extremely fast Bullet Bill, racing through the track with incredible speed, as well as automatically steering. Boo can however slightly swerve in either direction to hit Opponents. The Bullet Bill's duration is lengthier the farther back they are,in terms of places.

Whisker Missile
It is thrown forwards but does not home onto opponents. When it collides, it causes a slowdown to the victim, although they will not flip upon contact as opposed to the Shells.

Fake Item Box
It serves as a Trap to trick and slow down Opponents by making them think it's a real Item Box (Nobody falls for this btw)

Bob-omb

The Bob-omb is an offensive Item. It can be thrown ahead of the user's kart to try to knock over the opponent up ahead. If no one is near the Bomb-omb, it will take about four seconds to detonate automatically. However, if a racer is near one, or if it is thrown and lands directly on a racer, it will blow up right away. The Bomb-omb can also be dragged and dropped behind the kart. High Beam
Upon being used, the High Beam attaches itself to the front of the user's kart and projects a blinding light for a short time. Any rivals who get caught in the light will lose speed and become blinded briefly as their view turns completely white.

If the racer is passed or hit by an item during this time, the Laughter Bag will taunt the racer by laughing at them.

Barrel
the Barrel shoots Banana Peels forward. These come at a rapid rate, making it easier to hit the opponent in front.

Mystery Egg
When used, the Mystery Egg drops behind the player's kart, much like a Banana. When a racer runs into the dropped Mystery Egg, they become affected by a random status condition.

Heart
it gives boo the chance to block almost all enemy Items in the game. Once this Item is activated, two large pink Hearts will perpetually orbit around the users' Kart,If a Banana, a Shell, or even a Special Item Bowser Shell makes contact, the Hearts will repel it but in addition to this, the Item gunner of the vehicle will also be able to use the Item that was just blocked.

Tub
they home in on racers up the road. After hovering over their heads for a bit, the Basin slams down on the driver, inflicting damage. But instead of just fading away from existence like Koopa shell remains or Banana peels, the bowl remains on the drivers head, disabling any movement.

Double Tub
It basically works the same way as the Normal Tub except there's 2 of them

Triple Tub
It basically works the same way as the Normal Tubs except there's 3 of them

Golden Tub
When fired, it locks on the character and hits them three times in a row.

Pie
After hitting an Item Box and obtaining a Pie, you are now free to throw it behind you, excellent aim is needed to actually hit someone because flies in a straight line. If you do manage to hit an opponent, the Pie will splatter all over their windshield/face. The cream makes seeing the road a very difficult task.

Double Pie
It basically works the same way as the Normal Pies except there's 2 of them.

Triple Pie
It basically works the same way as the Normal Pie except there's 3 of them.

Pie Bazooka
the player can use the Pie Bazooka to fire a Pie forwards, which has the same effects as the Pie item besides going forwards rather than backwards.

Double Square Tire
It basically works the same way as the Normal Square Tires except there's 2 of them.

Triple Square Tire
It basically works the same way as the Normal Square Tire except there's 3 of them.

Whirling Wheel
the player may toss it toward a driver ahead of them, making their steering uncertain for a short time.

Broken Wheel
once the player locks on to the opponent, it homes in on them. This item causes the opponent to first stop, as many items do. The opponent then loses control of the kart. After a while, the effect goes away.

Dizziness Virus
Upon a successful hit, the Dizziness Virus will cause the affected racer's view to blur and leave behind afterimages. This makes it very difficult for the racer to see where they are going and take turns properly. The Dizziness Virus can be passed to another racer by bumping into them, removing it from the first racer in the process.

Driver Virus
After dropping the virus right behind your kart, it will affect anybody who dares tailgate you with a faulty steering wheel. The effect lasts for about 10 seconds

Smokescreen
Once an enemy Kart is knocked upside the head with this, they suffer from a severe lack of vision of the track, making them liable to run into walls, drive right into Items, or even (if you're lucky) plunge right off the edge of the map.

Double Smokescreen
It basically works the same way as the Normal Smokescreen except there's 2 of them.

Triple Smokescreen
It basically works the same way as the Normal Smokescreens except there's 3 of them

Time Bomb
After activating it,a Time limit of 15 seconds will start, you will then have to bump into another kart and give them the bomb that will cause them to spin out (Basically Hot Potato)

Sticky Oil
the player can toss the Sticky Oil only backwards to another player. If the player gets a successful hit, the hit player's traction will decrease significantly; even if the player throws the item without hitting the opponent, the Sticky Oil will stay in the spot it was thrown, serving as a stage hazard.

Shield
Every single Item from Green Shells to Bob-ombs to Bullet Bills fail in permeating this protective barrier. The shield lasts for a good time frame if untouched.

Reflect Shield
Upon being used, the Reflect Shield will surround the racer's kart with a silver shield. Any items that hit this shield will be reflected back at the racer who used them. If a Reflect Shield user is attacked with a battering item such as a Thunder Stick, the racer who used the battering item will take damage.

Tacks
Once a player runs them over, the sharp tacks will deflate their tires, making controllability an issue for a while.

Double Tacks
It basically works the same way as the Normal Tacks except there's 2 of them.

Triple Tacks
It basically works the same way as the Normal Tacks except there's 3 of them.

Rally-X
Upon using the Rally-X, the user will deposit three clouds of pixelated smoke onto the racetrack in succession. Any racer who runs into one of these clouds will lose speed.

Galaga Boss
Galaga Boss is thrown forward in a straight line. Upon hitting a rival racer, Galaga Boss will lift them into the air with its tractor beam, causing them to lose time in the race.

Flower Glasses
The player can throw the item forwards on an opponent to put them on it, which damages them.

Invincible Urcin
When used, three Invincible Urchins surround the user similar to Triple Green Shells, causing other racers to spin out if they touch the Urchins. Unlike Triple Green Shells, they do not disappear when this happens, although they automatically disappear after a couple seconds, similar to a Super Star.

Gag Mic
Whenever the player receives one from an Item Box, they may use it to have the commentator provide a joke or "gag", temporarily freezing the other racers.

Super MIC
Whenever the player acquires one from an Item Box, they may use it whenever they wish to have the announcer comment exclusively and only on their moves for a short time, approximately ten seconds, before disappearing. Pretty useless.

Off-Key Speaker
Upon hitting a racer, the Off-Key Speaker will cause them to lose speed and then proceed to hover around the racer while blasting obnoxious music and producing colorful waves and musical notes. While this does not cause any directly harmful effects, it can obscure the screen and distract the racer from driving properly.

Pie Kart
Basically works as a re-skin,dosen't do much.

Pesky Billboard
If a racer touches it, they will spin out.

Pesky Frame
After the opponent gets hit by the item, multiple, moving frames of the character that has thrown it obscure the opponent's view, similar to the Blooper

Pesky Sticker
the player may have their driver toss the stickers behind them at any time. If another driver is hit, their vision is momentarily obstructed, or interrupted, similarly to the effects of both the frame and billboard.

Lucky 7
it spawns Seven items that rotate around the player's vehicle, being a Green Shell,Red Shell,Banana Peel,Mushroom,Blooper,Star,Bob-omb. It can also serve as a shield to Items like Shells though it might be risky due to the Bob-omb

Crazy Eight
No,it's not the Breaking Bad character,it spawns eight items that rotate around the player's vehicle, being a Banana, Green Shell, Red Shell, Blooper, Mushroom, Star, and a Bob-omb, as well as the addition of a Coin. It can also serve as a shield to Items like Shells though it might be risky due to the Bob-omb

Mini-Boos
Makes a Baseball Invisible, not exactly combat applicable.

POW Balls
If this ball hits the ground it causes an earthquake that stuns for four seconds.

Pills
HOW DID HE GET A DEGREE??? well,it dosen't matter,Because it works i know the joke is played out but Dr.Mario characters can basically cure cancer by shoving enough pills in someone, his Special Ability is to eliminate 5 Random viruses including those that would normally take multiple hits. If he dosen't steal your body, the Medical bill will steal your soul.

Powers and Abilities
Gengar
Moveset
Probably one of the most iconic Parts of Pokemon is the esay to learn Combat System,Starting with 4,as the Pokemon Levels up it learns more and more skills, and we only be counting Naturally learned moves (oh and also Ash's Gengar's moveset, that too) btw so no TMs and HMs,you know the funny thing is back when i didn't know english i just spammed the same basic attack over and over and i kinda got a bit far.
  • Lick: Lick inflicts damage and has a 30% chance of paralyzing the target. Lick cannot paralyze Ghost-type Pokémon.
  • Confuse Ray: Confuse Ray causes the target to become confused.
  • Night Shade: Night Shade inflicts damage equal to the user's level.
  • Hypnosis: Hypnosis puts the target to sleep. Hypnosis's has a accuracy of 60% and 40% chance to fail.
  • Dream Eater: Dream Eater only works if the target is asleep; otherwise, it does nothing. Dream Eater inflicts damage, and 50% of the damage dealt to the target is restored to the user as HP.
  • Spite: Spite decreases the PP of the last move the target used. Spite fails if that move has no PP remaining.
  • Mean Look: Mean Look prevents the target from switching out or fleeing (including via Teleport). It bypasses accuracy checks to always hit
  • Curse: The user will lose half of its maximum HP and puts a curse on the target. If this causes the user's HP to drop to 0, the move will execute fully but cause the user to faint. A cursed Pokémon will lose ¼ of its maximum HP at the end of each turn. The curse will remain until the Pokémon switches out or the battle ends.
  • Destiny Bond: When Destiny Bond is used, until the user moves again, if the user faints as the direct result of an attack the attacking Pokémon also faints.
  • Shadow Punch: Shadow Punch inflicts damage and bypasses accuracy checks to always hit, unless the target is in the semi-invulnerable turn of a move such as Dig or Fly.
  • Shadow Ball: Shadow Ball deals damage and has a 20% chance of lowering the target's Special Defense by one stage.
  • Nightmare: If the target is asleep, Nightmare afflicts the target with a status that causes it to take damage equal to one quarter of its maximum HP each turn.
  • Sucker Punch: Sucker Punch has a power of 80. It has a priority of +1, so it is used before all moves that do not have increased priority.
  • Payback: Payback inflicts damage. Its power doubles to 100 if the user moves after the target or if the opponent uses an item.
  • Dark Pulse: Dark Pulse inflicts damage and has a 20% chance of causing the target to flinch.
  • Hex: Hex's base power is 65 and will double to 130 when the target is affected by a non-volatile status condition.
  • Perish Song: All Pokémon on the field when Perish Song is used gain a perish count,Starting at 4 on the turn Perish Song is used, the perish count decreases by 1 at the end of each turn When a Pokémon's perish count reaches 0, it faints. Perish Song bypasses accuracy checks to always hit. If a Pokémon is switched out, its perish count is removed.
  • Reflect Type: Reflect Type changes the user's type to match the type or types of the target.
  • Sludge Bomb: Sludge Bomb inflicts damage and has a 30% chance of poisoning the target.
  • Astonish: Astonish inflicts damage and has a 30% chance of causing the target to flinch.
  • Ice Punch: Ice Punch does damage and has a 10% chance of freezing the target.
  • Dazzling Gleam: Dazzling Gleam inflicts damage to all adjacent opponents.
  • Will-O-Wisp: Will-O-Wisp inflicts a burn on the target.
Heat Absorption
Gengar's body acts as a heat sink. Its presence cools the temperature of the surrounding area by nearly 10 °F (5 °C), because it absorbs the warmth. It also absorbs the heat of it's victims.

Stealth Mastery
As i said before,Gengars are Experts in sneaking up and messing with people, often disappearing into shadows for sneak attacks, quite literally sometimes as he's able to hide in YOUR shadow,It can turn itself Invisible,It can even sneak up behind its opponents without making a sound.

Cursed Body
When a Pokémon with this Ability is hit by a damaging move, there is a 30% chance that the Cursed Body will disable that move of the attacking Pokémon for 4 turns (including the turn Cursed Body activates). Struggle cannot be disabled. Cursed Body can activate even if the attacker is behind a substitute or if the Pokémon with Cursed Body is knocked out, but will not activate if the attack hits the substitute of the Pokémon with Cursed Body.

Telekinesis
While not shown much in the games,Gengar does have Telekinesis, being able to slam Pokemons to walls as shown above,Lift and throws large rocks,Deflect several thrown Pokeballs and even use it against Lost Spirits.

Levitation
He usually dosen't use it much in Combat but it's the perfect little trick to better his Stealth or even walk around dangerous places without being hurt. It does come pretty in handy. Pokemons with this Ability also renders The Pokémon immune to damaging Ground-type moves.

Phasing
Gengar has shown the ability to phase trough Solid Matter, this is most likely due to the Biology of his Body,which...isn't really a body,it's more like a which is made of Poison Gas and Souls.

Invisibility
Gengar can turn his entire body invisible allowing him to stalk and mess with his prey unoticed,as i said before,he really likes to mess with his victims and this is the perfect way of doing so. Not to mention he's not harmless while in this state and still can and will use his Abilities.

Luck Manipulation
Gengar seems to be able to curse someone with Bad Luck, with it Gradually getting worse and worse overtime until it's their time to strike,he has done this with his previous trainer after he abandoned him.

Dimensional Travel
Gengar's can pass through other dimensions as stated by the Pokedex, this is also supported by the fact that it's Pre-Evolution Hunter has also been stated to be form another Dimension.

Intangibility
Gengar can make his body Completly Intangible to avoid attacks, this is,once again most likely due to his Poison Gas Biology,which...makes sense,i mean, you can't exactly punch gas...i think.

Illusion Creation
Gengar and his entire evolution line are able to create Illusions,a group of wild Haunter and Gengar once created several illusions including putting faces on trees, orbs of fire,a Dragonite, several copies of Ash,several bug types, and a beach

Duplication
Gengar can Create (Almost) Perfect clones of himself i say almost because they can be taken out in a single hit, atough they share the same Powers and abilities of the original.

Thief
inflicts damage and has a 99.6% chance to steal the target's held item if it has one,the reason i put this move as a seperate section is due to its seemingly ability to stop someone in place.

Possession
Gengar has shown the ability to possess someone by flying into their mouth, not only that but they can also use pretty much the mouth of it's victim,it can also copy and perform their powers and Abilities

Hammerspace
Gengar is Seemingly able to store items in his Body,up to the Hundreds,he can even store people in his body and even pokemon, tough they can force their way out pretty easily .

Non-Physical Interaction
Gengar can pick up and Interact with lost souls,which...sounds about right,i mean he's a ghost type after all but not only that but he can also grab Acerola's Mimkyu which is explicitely a ghost.

Telepathy (?)
I'm actully not sure about this but like,do you have a better explanation? He's asked to gather the Ghost Pokemon and they immediately know where he is and what to do. Yeah, that's what i thought.

Shapeshifting
Gengar has the ability to Shapeshift into anything he likes, while, yes he has only Shapeshifted into this...weird little girl on a single Obscure manga,But his pre-evolutions have shown this ability multiple times so he should be capable of performing it too, here's a example .

King Boo
Sealing
Probably King Boo's most iconic ability,he's able to trap someone in a frame and turn them into a painting, people used to be able to move inside due to it being a seperate dimension but that was seemingly retconned and now it transforms people into actual paintings.

Portal Creation
Ghosts can freely transfer between the Ghost dimension and the Mushroom Kingdom by creating portals, larger portals can be created by more powerful ghosts. King Boo almost caused the Dimension to collapse upon itself by creating one of these but we will get into this later.

Size Manipulation
King Boo has shown quite the variety of sizes over the years, sometimes he's massive, sometimes he has a similar size to luigi, that's most likely due to the fact he can grow things with his crown,he only ever uses it on paintings but he can very likely use it on himself.

Hacking
King Boo was able to tap into and Hack Professor E. Gadd's Pixelator, allowing him to transport Luigi straight to the Ghost Dimension, its never really explained how but still impressive.

Illusion Creation
King Boo can create Illusions to mess with his opponents fears, including a entire Arena who he considers to be the Ultimate Illusion

Telekinesis
King Boo can pick up objects with his crown, wait a second...does that count as Telekinesis? Oh,well i'm gonna count it anyways.

Fire Manipulation
King Boo can create fire which homes in on his target,Summon Fireballs form his crown, aswell as spit blue flames from his mouth.

Lightning Manipulation
King Boo can summon Lightning strikes with his crown be it a single one or multiple at the same time, they are potent either way.

Invisibility
He's a ghost...of course he can turn invisible. It IS pretty useful, atough Mirrors can reveal him.

Levitation
I dont think i need to explain why a ghost can levitate.

Immortality
as a Ghost he,of course dosen't age, making him immune to Natural Deaths, not only that but you can't really kill what's already dead by conventinal Means due to their Regeneration. Even after being "killed" his consciousness remains.

Duplication
King Boo can make up to 5 (Almost) Perfect clones of himself,i say almost because they can be taken out in a single hit, atough they share the same Powers and abilities of the original. (Wait a second...)

Shapeshifting
Much like Gengar,King Boo has only done this once in Paper Jam,he used this to trick Mario and Luigi into thinking he's his Paper Counterpart.

Creation
King Boo was directly Responsible for the Creation of the LM1 Mansion, which is rather big, containing full-on universes inside it,tough i wont write everything here,we will talk about this later. He Can also create giant Holes to transport people to other places and make stones appear out of thin air but that's uh...slightly less impressive.

Life Granting
King Boo can breath life into Inanimate objects, pretty self-explainatory.

Gloom
One of the main "Vibes" of Super Princess Peach,it causes the User to Uncontrollably cry,King Boo uses this in his bossfight to extinguish candles and move quicker.

Makeover Mojo
King Boo can use this...ability? To completly randomize the Board,Making all your Progress in Mario Party depend on luck...nice.

Teleportation
King Boo can teleport in Short Distances to avoid attacks, atough the range of said teleport is currently unknow.

Forcefield
Every Ghost in the Luigi's Mansion Arcade game has a Forcefield and King Boo is no different, atough like most Ghosts on the game,it will eventually run out allowing the player the perfect chance to strike.

Vehicular Mastery
As i said before,he has been in quite a few Mario Kart games, including the one with 100+ items that i had To add to the blog...fuck.

Transformations
Gengar
Mega Gengar
The State Gengar reaches upon using Gengarite, gaining a more spiky look with some tones of red. The Gengar is also more agressive in this form, its third eye growth enables Mega Gengar to freely observe beings and events across space-time boundaries and see into alternate dimensions/universes more cleary, can produce enough smoke to cover a valley,he can also immobilize an enemy's movement by making contact with its shadow. it also gives Gengar new moves such as Acid Downpour,Never-Ending Nightmare,Shattered Psyche,Subzero Slammer,Black Hole Eclipse and Twinkle Tackle

Gigantamax Gengar
Oh God,that's a VERY big boy. And he has a massive Mouth too, which is not even a mouth,it infact is a Portal to the afterlife,if you Stand in front of its Mouth, you can even hear the Voices of loved ones. it also attempts to steal the lives of those it captures,so,that's fun. This form greatly enhances the user's health and abilities, replacing the Pokemon's current moveset with the fitting Max Moves. Including,G-Max Terror ,Max Starfall,Max Hailstorm and Max Ooze

King Boo
Gold King Boo
King Boo...but gold.

Attack Potency
Durability
Ah....the world of Pokemon, such a majestic and beautiful place, filled with with the most Breathtaking and yet Powerful Creatures,Gengar is of course no different,Many Gengars have picked fights with some quite powerful Pokemons. So he should logically scale to most of them.
Ash Ketchum
The Pokemon Anime is a big part of why Pokemon is so loved, and Gengar was one of Ash's most important Pokemon even tho he was captuted a tiny bit late, like, final Series late,he was even there when Ash....FINALLY Won a league, jeez, sure took ya' long enough. Oh well,Gengar should scale to Ash's Pokemons and Ash himself.
Legendary Pokemons
Yeah...i know this may seem a bit...insane,to say the least, but the Scaling chain is way more simple than you would think,Ash has Fought legendarys before OR has fought people that COULD fight legendarys as you have read in the Scaling section, but not only that but the bosses of Mystery Dungeon ARE legendarys, with Gengar scaling to the Rescue Team, there's a extremely solid case for him scaling to legendarys.
Weather Trio
The Weather Trio,Powerful Pokemons involved with the creation of the seas, continents, and sky. now you might ask,how does a single Gengar scale to such beasts, well, they were bosses in Mystery Dungeon for one,and Gengar outright helped take Groudon down.
Creation Trio (Debatable)
Oh boy...this sure is a Headache to deal with and it sounds absolutly absurd but...there are a few arguments to be made, for one,Cynthia's Garchomp could cancel out Palkia which Gengar should obviously scale to,you could also argue Chain Scaling form the Weather Trio,as Gengar scales to them and in the Hoopa movie  Rayquaza can fight equally with the Creation Trio.
King Boo
Mario & Luigi
Bowser
BEHOLD! THE KING OF THE KOOPAS! King Boo and Bowser have worked together in the past,Providing Boos for the King's quest to find Love, hell,he was even in his Wedding in the animated film, not to mention he has pictures of him and Bowser together, these two are besties,oh and King Boo scales to the Mario Brothers who scale to Bowser so...
Misc
Yeah...there are a Lot of characters King Boo scales and chain scales to. He scales to Mario & Luigi who scales to Peach,Wario,DK-oh well, you probably get it by now
Before the Verdict
Is the Pokedex Written by Children?
No. Not sure where this Theory came form but it has a simple answer,No it isn't. Sure the Pokédex entries have made some... extraordinary claims. To say the least but we have seen time and time again Pokemons can reach such Levels. But most important, it automatically registers the data of any Pokemon you've caught, sure there are a few Outliers here and there but nothing Big enough to outright claim it's made by 10 Year Olds. Unless the Pokédex entry explicitly contradicts the established lore (Such as Kadabra being a human boy),it's valid.

Are Dreams actully Universes?
In Pokkén Tournament Gengar is shown destroying a Dream World which is way more impressive than you might think at first, For some context,in Southern Island there's a sign that says: "All dreams are but another reality.
Never forget…” now Normally, this wouldn't be enough to outright confirm Dreams being Universe sized, but the Extralink proves that it is legitimate,The entralink is a place where you can travel to another world/universe,one of these Worlds being the Dream World, there is also the InterDream Zone, located between the real world and the dream world which again supports that idea. So yeah, they are 100% Universes. But does Gengar scale to it or is it just a simple Outlier, well,it depends if you buy his High-Ends,speaking of which:

Gengar Higher end Scaling
All right, let's get into Creation Trio Scaling,oh and Necrozma, him too. Let's start with Necrozma since its more simple,Tapu could fight on par with it for a while sure, but it's not really enough to outright claim The Chain Scaling is legit,at least for me,atough it's important Mewtwo is a Boss in Mystery Dungeon who has fought Opponents who were on par with Necrozma such as 50% Zygarde,i wouldn't say i fully buy it but there's certainly Arguments to be made.

The same goes for the Creation Trio, atough this one has a lot more evidence behind it,for starters Cynthia's Garchomp could cancel out Palkia which Gengar should obviously scale to,atough it's definitly a bit flimsy you could definitly argue for it,The same goes for most of the arguments regarding, most of them come back to the Weather Trio, such as them being fought after The Creation Trio which implies them to be stronger, atough the most Fascinating piece of Evidence is the Hoopa movie having Rayquaza fight Giratina,in Pokémon Masters EX, Team Rainbow Rocket Giovanni uses a Mewtwo on his team while Cyrus uses Dialga and Palkia, implying that it's stronger. And Mewtwo is a Boss in Mystery Dungeon so Gengar could scale to that, you get it by now,its very confusing, now do i buy this? EH...not really, its too inconsistent and massive leap form what Gengar has shown, but it is up for Debate so i will leave this one open just in case any of the other People working on this Blog do.

King Boo’s Paranormal Overload
Short answer? No. Long answer? Still no. Sure,he was directly Responsible for Opening the Portal that allowed such High Paranormal Overload, but besides that he didn't do anything. Firstly,it takes way too much Time for it to be actully useful in battle, and even if he could destroy It,Gengar could just Hop to a new Dimension,so even if it was real,it would be pratically useless. And second,he needed help,a LOT of it,as it was not his own power causing it by the sheer amount of Boo's in a single  place. So Yeah,The Bowser vs Eggman Blog already went in depth into this,so i won't drag this out.

Check out this Cool Art

(Art by: ME?!)

Weakness
Gengar
Gengar is,of course Weak Against Ghost, Psychic and Dark type attacks, and one of his Strongest forms,The Gigantamax only lasts a couple of Turns,It also has slightly worse defense than special defense,so physical attacks will do more damage. But besides that, not many Weaknesses.

King Boo
Boo's are Naturally a very Shy species and even if King Boo is Bigger and Meaner, he still has to deal with such Problems,he's also (maybe) weak to Light atough that's very inconsistent, some people also say Removing his Crown would Remove his power but that has yet to be proven true,He's also Very egotistical which allows Foes to get the better of him.

Advantages and Disadvantages
Gengar
Advantages:
  • Massively Outstats if Given High End Scaling
  • Gigantamax and Mega Evolution gives a significant Power Boost
  • Can heal himself with Dream Eater
  • Has many ways to apply various Status Effects
  • Perish song is OP
  • Smarter
  • Luck Manipulation could potentially Block King Boo form getting good items
Disadvantages:
  • Gets Massively outstatted if you don't
  • Has no Resistance against King Boo's sealing
  • Has almost nothing when it comes to Equipment
  • Weak against Ghost types
  • Gigantamax only lasts a few Turns
  • Would have some trouble actully killing King Boo depending on how you interpret certain Statements
King Boo
Advantages:
  • Massively Outstats if you don't Buy Gengar's High ends
  • Has a Comically bigger Arsenal
  • Sealing is pratically a Insta-win
  • Can Transmute Gengar with Paper Mushroom
  • Has many ways of Bypassing Negative Status
  • Overall Superior illusion creation
  • possibly immortal???
  • Put Infinite on Fraud Watch
Disadvantages:
  • Gets Massively outstatted if you buy Gengar's High Ends
  • Anxiety
  • Getting the item he wants depends on luck
  • Is weak to Light in certain cases
  • Dumber
  • His Ego can get the best of him
  • But got put in his place 5 Seconds later
Verdict

_GhostOfHollownest_
Okay, this took a liiitle bit longer than usual but that's mostly because of my procastination to actully finish, atough this was definitly a lot of fun to do,but it's time to give my Verdict and honestly? I'm not sure, this was genuinely so confusing Scaling-wise,but oh well, guess i will give it a shot.

Stats
You know,Stats are normally Pretty esay to deal with...unless you're Pokemon, then you make my life very difficult since the scaling is all over the place, let's start with Attack Potency, let's use the lowest possible ends first then work our way form there just for you to see how insane it is,Gengar's feats by themselves aren't that insane, nothing really worth mentioning but King Boo by himself can create entire Universes putting him well above Gengar even with Scaling which dosen't add nothing new for King Boo,but Gengar can reach Planetary levels with it and possibly Universal+ if you buy him scaling to Necrozma and Low Complex Multiversal if you buy Creation Trio Scaling which sadly i don't,so King Boo takes it.

For Speed, its basically the same story, and again, most of their High Ends come form scaling without gettin' into Creation Trio and Necrozma since i already explained why i don't buy it. Gengar at his very highest can get to 986174.91x FTL which, again
Very,Very impressive but its not really close to King Boo which is 6.884 Quintillionx FTL,hell, even if you use his low ends (Relatively speaking) like the Shroobs,he still outscales even if by less, another point for the King.

Now for Durability, yeah,i don't need to explain here like sure Gengar can,as i said scale to planetary Foes, even tank hits form them, but King Boo scales to Bowser who survived a Black Hole that was Destroying the entire universe,it's not exactly balanced when it comes to stats,at least for me,as you can see King Boo massively outscales but let's move on to the next Category, shall we?

Arsenal
Okay, this one is simple,What does Gengar have? Gengarite,Dynamax Den and a few Held items while King Boo has this entire sea of Items, including stuff like the Paper Mushroom that could transform Gengar into literal Paper for a short amount of time,or the Starman that could make him completely invincible, not to mention he can summon enemies,Create tornadoes, apply many Status effects to slow down Gengar, straight up gain doubles and triples of each item, get powerups and much much, more

Abilities
Okay, this is the most interassting part here,Both can turn Invisible,go Trough walls,Levitate, use Telekinesis, duplicate,Shapeshift and both have ways to make themselves bigger,so they do have some pretty similar Abilities overall but if i had to Highlight one,it would be Gengar's Perish Song, probably his biggest Wincon, bypassing Boo's insane Stats, atough he would need to actully be able to use it before getting Blitzed but again, this might change with High-Ends,King Boo's Immortality is dubious at best so it would most likely kill him given the chance,Gigantamax Gengar can Transport people to the Afterlife and that sounds like a wincon but King Boo could just...come back? So perish song really is his Wild Card,oh right, almost Forgot about the Paintings, yeah Gengar has no way to bypass it,so both have ways to end the Battle quickly but i'd say Boo's is way more useful and can be done pretty quickly compared to Gengar who needs to wait a couple of minutes.

Conclusion
Now...i know what you are thinking "but i thought you said this was confusing, dosen't King Boo Stomps?" And yes,the way i interpreted,King Boo does in fact,Stomps but Pokemon Scaling is all over the place and there's a legitimate and real Argument for Gengar winning,i just personally don't buy it,Gengar is Very Powerful it's just that Boo is on a whole other level,The Kings sheer might was more than enough to make the Shadow Pokemon look like a Shadow of his former self.

Duck King
In a lot of ways Gengar and King Boo are pretty similarly matched with many similar powers (Illusions, Levitation, Clones, Shapeshifting) and while I personally don't buy the creation trio or Necrozma scaling the whole dream universe stuff does seem to put them both at around universal in attack potency. The main thing that decides this battle is King Boo having more reliable ways to end the fight immediately with his sealing, which given how Boo has more consistent arguments for hm being way faster than Gengar, he would likely be able to pull off before his opponent could pull off similar battle enders like Perish Song. Not to mention King Boo's way larger arsenal, a substantial portion of which apply debuffs which slow down Gengar, further widening the speed gap between the two. Additionally it's somewhat unclear if Boo could even be killed in the first place due to his whole vague immortality which Gengar doesn't really have an equivalent too. In conclusion I believe that King Boo is more likely to come out on top in this fight.

DX
Sadly, i personally don't think Gengar had an actual chance. While both seem in a very close level at first with both having a huge arsenal of items and a pack of similar powers, King Boo outclasses Gengar in every way to the point Gengar would need to scale to characters that are consistently portrayed in a whole different level of power so he could stand a chance against King Boo's low and mid ends, but would still be easily surpassed and couldn't at all match King Boo's high ends. King Boo's powers and abillities would also likely grant him the absolute control over the fight and dome of them could just end the battle instantly (like being able to warp the battlefield in his favor or sealing Gengar in a paint). So,even if we help Gengar and grant him jis high ends and limit King Boo's power, King Boo could still win. Sorry Gengar, you may be a ghost Pokémon, but you just entered the wrong Ghost House... Or mansion, whatever

Final Tally
Gengar (0) (damn...)

King Boo (4): _GhostOfHollownest_,Duck King,DX,Emotional_Emu
